Membership applications are submitted initially to the ARA Secretariat, after which they are forwarded to the relevant State Honorary Secretary for consideration at Branch level. Applications approved at State Branch level will be tabled at annual Federal Council and Annual General Meetings for ratification.
Full (Ordinary) Members: Medical practitioners with appropriate training in rheumatology as defined by the Australian Rheumatology Association; Senior scientists with a major commitment to research bearing upon rheumatic disease, who are invited by Council to become Full (Ordinary) members.
Associate Membership: Individuals whose work as medical practitioners is related to the Rheumatic Diseases but who are not eligible to become Full (Ordinary) members. Associate members shall not have the right to vote at meetings or become a member of the Federal Council of the Association. Advanced Trainees in Rheumatology are eligible to apply for Associate Membership.
Non-medical Membership: shall be Non-Medical Members of the Unincorporated Association. Non-medical practitioners whose work is associated with the sciences bearing upon Rheumatic Diseases. Non-medical members shall not have the right to vote at meetings or become a member of the Federal Council of the Association.
Retired Membership: shall be members of the Association who retire from active medical practice who wish to continue their active participation in the Association and retain their membership of the Association. Application form attached which could be part of this section.
