The Rheumatology Department specialises in the management of rheumatic diseases and the acute and chronic management of musculoskeletal pain. We have seven (7) beds located in Wards G53.
Office Hours: 8.30 - 4.30 Monday - Friday
Registrar & Resident: 9.00 - 5.00pm Monday - Friday and every alternate Saturday for 2-1/2 hrs.STAFF:

The Rheumatology Department consists of:
- Four Consultants (part-time)
- One Registrar
- One Resident
- One Secretary
- One Unit Manager (GCRU)
- One Research Assistant (GCRU)
- One part-time Laboratory Assistant (GCRU)
Members of Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work supports our Department.Teaching and Research Services:
The Department is involved in research, either unilateral or collateral with other Departments. Research is performed according to directives of the Departmental Consultants. The bulk of the research activity is coordinated by the Goatcher Clinical Research Unit incorporated within the Department and directed by one of the consultants. Registrars are encouraged to be involved in the research activity, as are the residents if service commitments allow.Patient Services per week:

Elective admissions for on-going care and we provide acute care to Emergency patients.
Outpatients on Tuesday am, Thursday am and Joint Injection Clinic on Wednesday pm.
Monday am Emergency Clinic to cover urgent referrals within and from outside the hospital and to closely follow-up early discharge cases from the Ward.
Monday am Combined Rheumatology Clinic.
Tertiary referral of Severe Arthritis cases.Education:
The Consultants' and Registrar are involved in providing the teaching of clinical skills for medical students. Teaching of nurses and fellowship trainees is also provided, largely from the Registrar.
Accredited for Part II Advanced Training for the FRACP.Additional Clinics Attended:
